Most reliable cars on North American roads

Endurance has compiled a list of the most reliable vehicles on North American roads. Results are based on claims submitted by owners in the US, although same vehicle models are sold in Canada as well. Study was based on 200,000 vehicles, 150 different models from 26 different manufacturers.

Here are the top 5 most reliable cars:

1. Toyota Corolla (2.6% claim rate)
2. Kia Sportage (2.9% claim rate)
3. Kia Spectra (3.2% claim rate)
4. Ford Ranger (3.7% claim rate)
5. Hyundai Elantra 

The only issue I have with this study is that vehicles #2, #3 and #5 are all produced on the same platform and share many of the same engines and parts.
All three vehicles are produced by Hyundai, in 1998 Kia was purchased by Hyundai Motor Group.
